Heybby! It’s New Music Monday Again. 10/21/19
Heybby! It’s New Music Monday again. Dj Nick Flash is kicking it into high gear with his second Youtube rendition of the NMM column. Aside from the bedroom dj quality video production, Nick Flash brings you another fire playlist to get you through the week. This list has a heavy hip-hop influence but you’ll also discover some indie gems that are way too good to have skipped over on Spotify.
Don’t forget to check out last weeks New Music Monday in case you missed it. https://offkeymag.com/index.php/2019/10/07/nick-flashs-fall-kick-off-new-music-monday/
#10 gabriel black feat. Call Me Karizma – fuck up
Yeah… I relate to this song because I’m such a fuck up myself. Never for too long though, because there’s always a W to catch.
gabriel black does all his own album artwork. And if you read his YouTube bio, he states that he “sings songs poorly and draws shitty cartoons.” Give yourself a bit more credit gabriel, this song is fire.
#9 G-Eazy feat. Gunna – I Wanna Rock
This bop almost didn’t make it to my top 10 list. But after the club manager Mr Alex Allen played it for me after my shift, I knew it would make some booty’s shake.
#8 Electric Guest – Freestyle
So far I’ve only heard singles like Oh! Devil from Electric Guest, but this new one’s gonna make me dive into the whole album head first.
#7 Landon Cube feat. 24kGoldn – Pretty
While this song may lean more towards the “ignant” side of rap, I like getting “ignant” sometimes so don’t judge. I fuck with this song mainly for the subject matter. Who doesn’t like girls who like girls?
#6 Becky G – 24/7
My favorite Yellow Ranger got another hit on her hands.
#5 Hovvdy – Keep it up
This is the perfect vibe when you’re in your feelings. I like to put this one on and let it take me to another sonic dimension.
#4 Mayer Hawthorne – Over
Mayer Hawthore is easily one of my most favorite artists today. He’s the most soulful cat on the scene and is one of the few young dudes keeping real R&B alive. His new track Over deals with the trials & tribulations of a break up, and helps to ease the heartache pain with his smooth grooves.
#3 beabadoobie – Space Cadet
This songs feels to me as if it could have been on the 10 Things I Hate About You soundtrack. It’s got that nostalgic “angry girl music of the indie rock persuasion” feel to it. I also can’t help but hear the faint cry of No Doubt’s “Underneath it All” deep down as well.
After posting about her on our Instagram, music video directors Blackksocks hit us up with some bts video of some of beabadoobies music videos that they’d like to share with us. We’re excited to bring that to you as soon as we find out more.
#2 Gangstarr – Bad Name
Dj Premier was largely responsible for me becoming a dj in the first place. His samples, cuts, scratches and overall production are second to none. Undoubtably one of the best to ever do it. The fact that he’s ready to release a whole new Gangstarr album for the real hip-hop heads is something the culture truly needed at this time. Can’t wait.
#1 binki – Heybb!
As a dj I can guarantee you, you play this song at any time and people will want to jump out of their seats and dance. No matter their age, no matter if they recognize it, they’re dancing. Go ahead. Play it. Put it to the test. Grab your friends aux cord, plug this in and watch as the high fives keep on coming your way.
Heybby! If you enjoy’d binki’s latest track, we know you’ll love his video just as much. Here’s a bonus!
