Nick Flash’s Fall Kick Off| New Music Monday|

I usually drop this post on Fridays, but I decided to switch it up and do this on Mondays and call it “New Music Mondays.” Give us your feedback and tell us what day you like better. There was plenty of jams to choose from this week, but somehow I was able to narrow it down to just 10.

Some OffKey favorites like Doja Cat , Peach Tree Rascals & ayokay are back this week with some bangers. In addition, there were pleasant surprises from artists like bülow & Diana Gordon (formally known as Wynter Gordon), Country artist Niko Moon, & a feel good anthem from Surfaces.

Timbaland is back on the musical radar again with his collaboration with newcomer Ant Clemons, Majid Jordan dropped a smooth club groove, and Healy caught our attention with his sentimental new single Tuscon.

I hope you enjoy my picks this week, please don’t forget to leave your feedback.

Doja Cat – Bottom Bitch

Doja Cat really snapped on this one. She’s eliminating any notion that she could ever be a one hit wonder or just “that chick who made the moo song.” The video has to be one of the dopest I’ve seen all year. It’s absolutely insane. It’s like a concoction of Project X and Harmony Korine’s “Kid’s” wrapped into one. She even enrolls Skate Moss and a ton of other skate kids and misfits for this one. Must watch.

Peach Tree Rascals – Mango

Growing up, my dad always had a mango tree. I’d eat Mango’s for breakfast every single season. So My opionon may be a bit biased here, but who the heck doesn’t love mangos? Peach Tree Rascals close out the summer and bring us into fall with this funky little groove. The group just surpassed 1 million streams on Spotify for their single Plus, which is a huge milestone for any artist. Follow their Instagram to connect with them on a more personal level. Watch the video for Mango as well below.

Surfaces – Good Day

The only way to describe this song is “feel good anthem.” Turn this track on and your mood will instantly change. Even if your day sucks, it’ll make you reminisce on your best days and transport you back there. It’s one of those tunes that’s great to listen to first thing in the morning to set the tone. Use it as your alarm for a greater effect. It’s right up there with classics like Ice Cube’s “Today was a Good Day” & Nappy Root’s “Good Day” Tell us what you think.

Niko Moon – WAY BACK

It’s really an amazing time for country music right now. The hip-hop community has embraced it with open arms, and you can hear it’s influences laden in many electronic dance music tracks thanks to artists like Avicii & Diplo. I’ve constantly got my ears out for new country acts, and Niko Moon is the real deal. He’s got this natural cool about him. His sound makes you just wanna drive through the country with your top down with no real destination. He’s got dope style too that reflects his music well. Killer leather jackets, hats and shades. Check him out.

bülow – Own Me

Now bülow is easily the biggest surprise of the week. Only 19 years old, she is a true Contender in the music scene and her new E.P.’s title proves it. The album opens with the track Own Me, and holy fuck does this beat slap. It’s got this dark, savage hip-hop feel, yet her angelic voice just blends so perfectly over it. Her voice can only be described by me as hypnotic. She already has a huge hit with The Chainsmokers & Ty Dolla sign called “Do you mean” which already has well over 47 million streams. This is already a sign that she will be featured on some of the biggest dance records and festival hits in the coming years. We are going to try our best to get an interview with her so we can bring you more about this emerging artist.

Diana Gordon – Becoming

Formally known in the game as Wynter Gordon, I knew her primarily for her dance music hit Dirty Talk back in like 2010. When Electro House was everywhere, I used to play Laidback Lukes remix more than the original. However, this was one of those songs that happened to get lost in the crates.

She is reinventing herself and doing music that seems to be truer to who she is as an individual. This sound is a true cross between hip-hop and R&B. It truly blurs the lines. And it’s way more my speed. It’s a good reflection of the musical freedom that this era is paving the way for. Give it a listen and tell us what you think.

My friends demanded I post these ….

ayokay – Dear Luca

Dear Luca is cool tune. It’s got elements of Owl City’s Fireflies & A-ha’s Take on Me with a retro- modern twist. You can dance to it or just vibe out. It’s an ode to an old friend or lover from the past that everyone can relate to. Makes you wanna call an ex and apologize for what a dick head you’ve been. (Not recommended)

Majid Jordan – Superstar

Majid Jordan coming with some Billie Jean type of vibes here. Real smooth and sexy. This is one of those great opening tunes Dj’s should be playing to set the mood for a sexy ass party. Great for moonwalking, tipping your hat, and giving you confidence to talk to that person in the club that catches your eye.

Healy – Tuscon

There is a lot of magic to be found in Healy’s new song Tuscon. It’s not something I’d normally listen to if I’m honest. However I was captivated by the first note, and just could not press skip. My favorite element of this tune is how it switches up from it’s slower, ballad style sound and drops into a dope hip-hop flow. It’s clear Healy can rap. I was interested to see if he had any more hip-hop style songs and came across this gem as I was digging through his discography: Reckless

Ant Clemons feat. Timbaland – 4 Letter Word

Last but certainly not least we have Ant Clemons. This is the first time in years I’ve truly heard Timbaland’s signature sound back in music. Working with Pop giants like Aaliyah, Missy Elliot, & Justin Timberlake, it’s great to see him shift back to his roots and work with an up and coming R&B artist. I hope this is a preview of lot’s more to come from Timbaland, and that he will be behind the boards for more and more new artists in the future.
